The first Game of Thrones Official Fan Convention is coming

Winter is coming! And so is the first Game of Thrones Official Fan Convention. The convention will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center this weekend, from December 9-11. It’ll be three days of bliss for Thronies.

Here’s what we know about it so far:

Game of Thrones Official Fan Convention’s Celebrity Guests

The convention’s website reveals that the convention will feature actors from both Game of Thrones and the new prequel show House of the Dragon. From Thrones, we have actors Kit Harrington (Jon Snow), Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark), Kristian Nairn (Hodor), Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), Jack Gleeson (Joffrey Baratheon), Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane), Daniel Portman (Podrick Payne) and Esmé Bianco (Ros). From House of the Dragon, there’s Paddy Considine (Viserys Targaryen), Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon), Matthew Needham (Larys Strong) and Tom Glynn-Carney (Aegon II Targaryen). All will be there for panels, meet-and-greets, photo ops, and autographs.

Hodor’s Dance Party

Before Kristian Nairn became famous for the playing Hodor on Game of Thrones, he was known as one of Ireland’s most prolific house DJs. Not only will he be gracing fans with his presence at the convention, he will also be making them all dance at the Saturday night dance party at 9:00 p.m. If you haven’t heard his music yet, I highly encourage you to look him up on Spotify.

Cosplay Contest

This will be a fun contest to watch, as some fans go all out in order to look like their favorite characters from the Game of Thrones universe. There will be a grand prize as well as prizes for second and third place.

Trivia Contest

Put your Thrones knowledge to the test. Prizes will be awarded to the winner.

Vendors

Everyone’s favorite thing at any convention: all the exclusive merch. Mikkeller (craft brewery), MobyFox (smartwatch bands), Threezero (collectibles), Secretlab (gaming chairs), and Enesco (collectibles) are some of the vendors that will be present.

Podcast Recording

If you haven’t heard Jason Concepcion and Greta Johnsen’s Official Game of Thrones Podcast: House of the Dragon, you’re missing out. The duo go over every episode and have exclusive interviews with some of the cast and crew. And they will be recording a live episode at the convention!

Other events include a first look at a featuette available on the upcoming House of the Dragon: The Complete First Season home video release (available for pre-order now), special virtual appearances by House of the Dragon co-creator and executive producer Ryan Condal, amazing props and set pieces from both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, and special panels/workshops.
