Netflix’s The Sandman was a huge success when it debuted back in August, quickly becoming the biggest show in the world for a few weeks. Understandably, fans are craving more. Yes, we are officially getting a second season— hooray!— but in the meantime, how about some deleted scenes?

We know for a fact that there are several deleted scenes sitting on a Netflix hard drive somewhere, which is an annoying thought. So far, the streamer has only released one scene that didn’t make the final cut. It takes place in the premiere, “Sleep of the Just,” while Morpheus is imprisoned. The scene is narrated by Lucienne, Dream’s loyal librarian and trusted advisor. Take a look:

Death confronts her mortality in a deleted scene from The Sandman

Most recently, we’ve learned of another deleted scene. It involves Death telling Dream about when she confronted her own mortality. The scene was played before the audience at The Sandman panel at CCXP 2022, but hasn’t been released to the general public yet.

According to Collider’s Steven Weintraub, the scene follows Death as she recalls the first time she took a day to live as a mortal. This is a direct reference to the “High Cost of Living” spinoff comic, which chronicles a day in the life of Death as a mortal. She takes a one-day sabbatical from her duties as one of the Endless once every 100 years.

I’m sure fans would love to see this scene. Please release it, Netflix!

Neil Gaiman confirms that Delirium will appear in The Sandman season 2

The Sandman season 1 was merely the tip of the iceberg. There are 10 volumes of the comic, plus a prequel and several spinoffs. The first season only covered the first two volumes and a little of the third. We haven’t even met all of the Endless yet.

If the show follows the same path as the comic, season 2 will kick off with an Endless gathering for a family meeting, where we’ll be introduced to Destiny and Delirium. In case anyone was worried that fan-favorite Delirium — the youngest of the Endless — wouldn’t be involved, author Neil Gaiman has confirmed that she will appear.

“We have things coming for you in Season 2,” Gaiman told the audience at CCXP via video. “We have more members of the Endless coming including the youngest member of the Endless. Don’t tell anybody, but it’s Delirium. There will be butterflies, there will be balloons, there will be magic, there will be chicken and telephone-flavored ice cream. It’s all coming for you.”

All 11 episodes of The Sandman season 1 are now streaming on Netflix. Hopefully, more deleted scenes will come our way soon!
