Emma D’Arcy receives IMDb’s Breakout STARmeter Award

Each year, IMDb gives Breakout STARmeter Award to an actor who exploded into prominence sometime in the past 12 months. This year, TheWrap announces that the award goes to Emma D’Arcy, who played the adult version of Rhaenyra Targaryen on HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon.

IMDb determines who gets the STARmeter Award using data from IMDbPro STARmeter rankings, which are based on analysis of the some 200 million pageviews the site gets every month. Clearly, people were interested in D’Arcy. And after watching House of the Dragon, how could they not be? D’Arcy spent three weeks in the No. 1 spot and another eight weeks in the Top 10.

“I feel so grateful to the fans of House of the Dragon for welcoming me and the rest of the cast into what is their universe,” D’Arcy told IMDb. “I have been amazed and very humbled by the love with which us Westerosi newcomers have been met! I have never before had the privilege of sharing a loved character with a fanbase—it felt like borrowing a treasured possession from a friend. I am so grateful to have been trusted with it.”

Here are IMDb’s top 10 breakout stars of the year. You’ll notice that Milly Alcock, who played the younger version of Rhaenyra before D’Arcy took over in the second half of the season, is in the No. 2 spot. People are fascinated by this character!
