We’ve already seen several of the big events from the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war depicted in HBO’s new show House of the Dragon. King Viserys naming his daughter as heir, Rhaenyra Targaryen’s kid slashing out the eye of Alicent Hightower’s, the dragonback battle between Lucerys Velaryon and Aemond Targaryen…but that’s just the start of the fun.
If you want to find out how much, you can read what happens next in George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood. Or you could get the 2023 World of Fire & Blood calendar, which is available now! This calendar features a dozen gorgeous images from a variety of artists. Check out some of their work below!
Fire & Blood covers more than just the Dance of the Dragons. Above is an image of the Field of Fire, a battle where Aegon the Conqueror and his sister-wives Rhaenys and Visenya flash-fried the combined forces of the Reach and the Westerlands. The art is by Rene Aigner. It’s the image for March.
Beware SPOILERS for House of the Dragon below!
Below, we have (clockwise from the upper left) art from Hristo Chukov, Chase Stone, Aigner and Magali Villeneuve. It depicts Rhaenyra Targaryen on the Iron Throne (September), a tournament in King’s Landing in the year 111 (July), the wild dragons of Dragonstone (August), and the dragon battle between Sunfyre and Moondancer (December).
And finally, we have the death of Criston Cole (art by Hristo Chukov) and the attack on the Dragonpit (art by Marc Simonetti):
Unfortunately, we won’t get new episodes of House of the Dragon itself in 2023. Hopefully this calendar can provide the barest of bandaids.
