Although it now has some competition for the title “Best Star Wars show on Disney+,” The Mandalorian remains the premiere TV series set in that galaxy far, far away. The first two seasons were both tremendously entertaining, and with a third on the way, expectations are high, especially with the cast and crew out there hyping it up.

“I just think that the show gets more expanded and more visually profound with each season,” star Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon) recently told Collider. “And I think it’s the vision of Jon Favreau and David Filoni, certainly, that begins that expansion. But it’s also all of the artisans that they trust to collaborate with them. I was blown away by that sizzle reel. All of a sudden, the world just came at you in a much more intense, and – it’s always been gratifying – but in a way that allowed you to know… You know that feeling that you have of dread or doom, or excitement personified? That’s the feeling you get because the story is all of a sudden being coalesced for you to understand elements that you didn’t know about.”

"The Mandalorian, you have the space to feel the largess of this universe, of this world-building. And you have the space to see where you fit in. God, I wish I could be that warrior, that hero, that heroine. And we see the weakness and the power of the villainous who want for themselves and not for the whole. What I love about this show, it is about our army, is about all of us who are starting to understand, once again, it’s for the people and by the people. And if we stand up and allow our voices to be heard, and understand there’s strength in numbers, we can then recreate the world as it should be in peace, harmony, and creatively, scientifically, and politically, a way for us to understand that there are no borders anymore. The Mandalorian exemplifies all of that."

Giancarlo Esposito is out here getting big picture about The Mandalorian! Although if you want it put in simpler terms, he can accommodate that too: “This season is off the chain. [Y]ou’re going to love it.”

Expect more “surprises” in The Mandalorian season 3

Creator Jon Favreau also talked up the new season while at Brazil Comic con. “I will say that the scope of it is getting bigger, we have really cool space battles, we have lots of Mandalorians, we have the planet of Mandalore which we’ve been talking about for a long time,” he teased. “We get to see the Mandalorian culture, and many of the wonderful actors you’ve seen in previous seasons return, and you’ll see them all work together on this show. It’s been a very ambitious season, a lot of our directors have returned, we have a very experienced team that have been working together for a long time and I think a lot of people are going to enjoy what we have in store.”

And at the same con, star Pedro Pascal talked up “surprises” in store:

"I think some of the best things about Season 1 and Season 2 of The Mandalorian were the surprises. There’s so much that you’re going to see…There are more secrets to keep."

Pascal was specifically talking about the appearances of Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian season 2. Disney is getting ready to launch a sort of Mandalorian Cinematic Universe within the greater Star Wars Cinematic Universe, insofar as a few shows will tell one big interconnected story. We’ve already seen how The Book of Boba Fett tied back in with The Mandalorian. Expect the upcoming Ahsoka Tano show to do the same.

The Mandalorian season 3 will premiere on March 1 on Disney+.
