The Flash’s final season will have a Supergirl crossover

It’s the end of an era, DCTV fans. We are inching closer and closer to the final episodes of The Flash. It’s been an interesting nine seasons to say the least, and there are more surprises on the way.
According to TVInsider, Supergirl’s Nicola Maines (Nia Nal/Dreamer) will have a cameo in the final season of The Flash. Although many DCTV shows ended abruptly, Supergirl got a proper conclusion when it ended about a year ago, and it left us with the understanding that its characters live on the same earth as the characters from Arrow and The Flash. So why not rope in some of these folks for the Scarlet Speedster’s farewell?
There will be a Supergirl crossover in the final season of The Flash
So what exactly is the nature of the crossover? Maines’ Nia Nal will head to Central City not to join forces with Barry/Flash but to use her journalism skills in conjunction with Iris (Candice Patton). Showrunner Eric Wallace talked about what fans can expect from her appearance.
“As Supergirl fans ourselves, all of us here on The Flash are SUPER-excited to have Nicole join Team Flash for a one-off adventure as we put together our final season,” Wallace said. “Nicole is a fantastically talented actress and I’m so happy she’s agreed to be part of a very special Season 9 episode where I get to cross off one of my ‘Arrowverse Bucket List’ team-ups: Having two fantastic reporters — Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) and Nia Nal — investigate their own very bizarre and frightening mystery.”
It is a great idea to rope in Nia Nal in this capacity. We’ve seen her do her superhero thing, but to see her team up with Iris will be a wonderful treat.
This will be Maines’ second appearance on a DCTV show outside Supergirl; she was also on Part Five of the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” arc. That was the Legends of Tomorrow part of the storyline, back when the Arrowverse was at its peak. I mean, how epic were those episodes? I miss that era so much. Hopefully, the final season of The Flash will give us a taste of that when the final season premieres on February 8, 2023 on The CW.
