Henry Cavill has been through a whirlwind adventure lately. First he left Netflix’s The Witcher show, where he’d played the lead role of Geralt of Rivia; Liam Hemsworth will replace him going forward. Then we heard that he might be back as Superman…but that didn’t pan out.
What’s a multimillionaire celebrity to do? Well, plenty of people think Cavill might be a good fit for House of the Dragon, HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel show. He already wore a white wig 24/7 on The Witcher, after all; he’d fit right in with the rest of the Targaryen family.
In fact, there’s been an image floating around social media depicting Cavill as Aegon the Conqueror, the first Targaryen king of Westeros. Check it out:
"Now that Henry Cavill is officially gone from DC and the Witcher series, do you think that is more likely for him to reconsider being part of HOTD? Would you like him in the series? from HouseOfTheDragon"
Henry Cavill (probably) won’t be joining the cast of House of the Dragon
Aegon the Conqueror lived a century before the events of House of the Dragon, so he wouldn’t show up for the main arc of the story. But if HBO chooses to turn House of the Dragon into an anthology series, it’s possible he (or someone else) could play Aegon later.
That said, Cavill doesn’t sound like he has plans to visit Westeros anytime soon, even if he’d like to. “To be fair, when I was watching House of the Dragon, I was like ‘I feel like a lot of these guys could make really good Witchers,’” Cavill said during an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz. “I think it would be cool to be in Westeros, I really do. I don’t think there’s a place for me in there, though.”
Not yet, anyway.
In any case, Cavill is busy with a new Warhammer 40k series for Amazon Prime Video, so he should be occupied for a while.
