Between the emotional Netflix series From Scratch, Avatar 2: The Way of Water, and next year’s final Guardians of the Galaxy film, Zoe Saldana is riding high right now. While speaking with ComicBook.com, Saldana zeroed in on Guardians and what Marvel fans can expect from Vol. 3.
“It is an accurate representation, Saldana said of the trailer for the new movie. It is a farewell. James Gunn is a really good writer. He really likes to write human characters with flaws. In a way, it’s going to be a nice conversation, just like Avatar, to look around you. It’s not just about your journey, it’s about the journey of your environment and the people around you… maybe animals and nature. So it’s going to be really nice.”
I’m not sure Marvel fans are ready to say goodbye to our favorite space crusaders. They’re the hilarious outcasts that everyone adores; how will we fare without them? I plan not to think about it until I’m in the theatre watching the film.
How is Gamora alive in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?
As you may have noticed, Zoe Saldana’s Gamora was not in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. But she’s still around…in a manner of speaking.
The original Gamora from the first two Guardians movies was murdered by her father Thanos in Avengers: Infinity, but a different version of her shows up in Avengers: Endgame. This variant had pledged her loyalty to Thanos until the present-day Nebula (Karen Gillan) convinced her to join the heroes.
During the final battle against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, variant Gamora meets Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), who is emotionally shaken to see the love of his life alive. Of course, he quickly learns that this isn’t the Gamora he knew when she fails to recognize him.
The last we see of Gamora is at the end of the battle when she decides to set off on her own. Where she went off to and how she will meet up with the Guardians in the final movie is yet to be seen, but we cannot wait to see how it all unfolds!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters on May 5, 2023.
