Broadway legend Patti LuPone joins Marvel’s Agatha: Coven of Chaos
By Dan Selcke
At some point, every actor with a credit on IMDb will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I mean, they’ve gotta be at least halfway there already, and still chugging along. Case in point: the other day, Deadline reported that Patti LuPone, best known for her musical theater bonafides as well as her roles in stuff like American Horror Story, will star in the upcoming Marvel show Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
Coven of Chaos is a spinoff of WandaVision. It’ll revolve around Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn), the breakout villain from that show. Need I remind you of the song she sang? The one that was in everyone’s head for a straight two weeks after it premiered?
I predict more of that kind of thing in this new show, particularly now that a hoofer like LuPone is involved. Might this new show even be a musical?
Agatha: Coven of Chaos cast adds Patti LuPone, Aubrey Plaza
Coven of Chaos will, at the least, be offbeat. In addition to Hahn and LuPone, the show will also star Aubrey Plaza, famous for her deadpan delivery on shows like Parks and Recreation. This is shaping up to be a colorful coven indeed.
The show also stars Emma Caulfield Ford, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn and Maria Dizzia. We don’t know when Coven of Chaos will premiere on Disney+, but it’ll probably be late in 2023 or early in 2024.
