Earlier this month, we learned that The Mandalorian season 3 will premiere on Disney+ on March 1, 2023. Now Disney has now released the synopsis for the upcoming season, alongside details on other upcoming shows like The Bad Batch season 2 and Visions Vol. 2.

Check out the synopsis for The Mandalorian season 3 below:

"The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together."

It’s interesting the New Republic is mentioned in the synopsis, as we have seen very little of them aside from two pilots conducting a space traffic stop on the Mandalorian in season 2. Perhaps we will get a glimpse of what the galactic government is dealing with on a larger scale in season 3.

The New Galactic Republic will play a bigger role in The Mandalorian season 3

Although The Mandalorian season 2 ended in 2020, Din Djarin and Grogu showed up in The Book of Boba Fett earlier this year, where they stole the show. After helping Boba Fett deal with gangs on Tatooine, Djarin and Grogu continued their journey together and flew off in their N-1 starfighter together.

Heading into season 3, Katee Sackoff is confirmed to return as Bo-Katan Kryze, which suggests we’ll visit the planet Mandalore in season 3. The Empire attacked Mandalore in what became known as “The Great Purge” prior to the events of The Mandalorian. Djarin is now in possession of the darksaber, which means he is seen as the de facto leader of Mandalore. This may bring him in conflict with Bo-Katan, who has expressed interest in returning to unite the clans and rule Mandalore like her sister Duchess Satine once did.
