Doctor Who drops thrilling teaser for 60th anniversary special

While many of us were celebrating the holidays or stuck at the airport, Doctor Who decided to brighten things up by dropping an epic teaser for next year’s 60th anniversary special. It has all the things we’ve been waiting to see, including a sneak peek at the returns of David Tennant and Catherine Tate as the Doctor and his companion Donna Noble.

As a passionate Whovian, I was jumping up and down with excitement at seeing Tennant peeking his head out of the TARDIS. I simply never thought this day would come again. But here we are, just 11 months away from the trio of episodes celebrating Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary.

It’s going to be an exciting time indeed, folks! Don’t believe me? Check out the trailer below!

Doctor Who teases new monsters and more adventures

The minute-long teaser shows David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor, Catherine Tate’s Donna Noble, and Neil Patrick Harris as a new villain. And there’s a whole new set of monsters to look forward to.

The teaser shows Donna on the verge of remembering what her life was once like. It’s obvious that along the way, she will reunite with the Doctor, and many wild adventures will ensue. I honestly cannot wait!

In an interview with Total TV Guide, showrunner Russell T Davies apologized to fans for the lack of a holiday special this year, but he promised big things in 2023. “I’m sorry there’s no special his year, but I absolutely promise, this time next year, you’ll be staggered with the surprises we’ve got in store!”

Speaking of surprises, how epic was it to see Ncuti Gatwa appear at the end of the teaser? He’s set to play the Fifteenth Doctor, and like the rest of us, doesn’t know what the hell is going on. Gatwa’s first episodes will air after 60th anniversary special. He’ll be joined by Millie Gibson, who plays his companion Ruby Sunday.

It’s going to be a long year, folks, but absolutely worth the wait. The Doctor Who 60th anniversary special airs in November 2023. Until then, Happy New Year!
