Stunning image of David Corenswet as James Gunn’s younger Superman
By WiC Staff
Everyone knows who Superman is. Super strong. Big red ‘S’ on the chest. From Krypton. Lives here now. He’s one of the most iconic figures in all of pop culture, and DC Studios CEO James Gunn is looking for a new guy to play him on the big screen.
You see, our most big screen Superman was Henry Cavill, who it was recently confirmed will not be donning the red-and-blue tights again. (At least not on camera, what he does at home is his business.) Instead, Gunn is working on a new movie that will star a younger Superman.
But who will play him? We don’t know yet, although the internet has ideas. For instance, artist clements.ink created a rendering of what Euphoria star Jacob Elordi might look like as the famous superhero:
At 25 years old, Elordi could effectively play a younger Clark Kent. And at 6″5′, he has the intimidating presence. That said, there are other candidates in the mix.
What Euphoria star Jacob Elordi would look like as Superman
Clements.ink also took a stab at depicting what House of Cards star David Corenswet would look like as Superman. Check it out below:
At 29 years old, Corenswet is also the right age to play a younger Superman; he’s almost as old as Henry Cavill was when Man of Steel came out in 2013. And at 6″4′, he’s no slouch in the height department. Also he’s American while Elordi is Australian. If you think Superman should be played by an American, that could matter to you, even though he’s technically a Kryptonian. Fine distinctions.
Anyway, we probably won’t know who Gunn and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran choose for a while. For all we know, they have the headshots of Elordi and Corenswet on their desks right now.
