House of the Dragon, Stranger Things among IMDb’s top TV series of 2022
By Dan Selcke
What were the popular shows and movies of 2022? Well, what did people look at the most on IMDb? The answers will probably (not) surprise you. Let’s look at what the 200 million people who visit IMDb every month were looking at:
IMDb Top 10 TV and Streaming Series of 2022
- Stranger Things
- House of the Dragon
- Better Call Saul
- The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
- Euphoria
- The Boys
- Moon Knight
- The Sandman
- Ozark
- Inventing Anna
No big surprises here. The fourth season of Stranger Things absolutely dominated the discussion when it came out in chunks over the summer, and HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon burst onto the scene a bit later.
It’s also nice to see that Better Call Saul got some attention for its excellent final season. I also like seeing The Sandman on there, since I think that was one of the best new shows of the year.
Onto the movies!
IMDb Top 10 Movies of 2022
- The Batman
- Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
- Thor: Love and Thunder
- Top Gun: Maverick
- Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
- The Northman
- The Gray Man
- Everything Everywhere All at Once
- Death on the Nile
- X
Again, nothing too shocking here. Superheroes mostly dominate the top five, with Top Gun: Maverick sneaking in there to break things up a bit.
The only big surprise is the inclusion of X, which I have literally never heard of before.
What will 2023 bring? We’re about to find out.
