On New Year’s Day, the internet was shook by news that Marvel Cinematic Universe star Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) was in critical condition after a snowplow accident in Nevada.

Renner has since undergone two surgeries after being transported to a nearby hospital via helicopter. Earlier this week, he was said to be in “critical but stable condition.” On Wednesday, Renner took to his social media to thank fans for their love and support. ”Thank you all for your kind words. 🙏,” he wrote on Instagram. “Im too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.”

What happened to Jeremy Renner?

Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam called what happened to Renner a “tragic accident.” Here’s what Balaam said during a press conference:

"Based on our investigation, Mr. Renner’s personal vehicle, which was being driven by a family member, had become stuck in the snow near his home. Mr. Renner went to retrieve his Piston Bully, or Snowcat, an extremely large piece of snow removal equipment weighing at least 14,330 pounds in an effort to get his vehicle moving. After successfully towing his vehicle from its stuck location, Mr. Renner got out of his Piston Bully to speak to his family member. At this point, it was observed that the Piston Bully started to roll. In an effort to stop the rolling Piston Bully, Mr. Renner attempts to get in the driver’s seat of the Piston Bully. Based on our investigation, it is at this point that Mr. Renner is run over by the Piston Bully."

Hollywood stars wish Jeremy Renner well

After he took to social media to thank everyone, many of his Marvel costars sent their words of support. For instance, Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) wrote, “Continued prayers your way brutha.” Chris Evans (Captain America) commented, “Tough as nails. Love you buddy ❤️.“ And Chris Hemsworth (Thor) wrote, “Speedy recovery buddy. Sending love your way!”

Marvel stars aside, many Hollywood actors sent messages. Isla Fisher, who worked alongside Renner in the 2018 comedy Tag, was delighted to hear that he’s in stable condition. “Phew! I’m so happy you made this post. Sending you so much love and healing energy. We love you,” she wrote.

The latest update comes from Renner’s sister, Kym. “We are so thrilled with his progress,” she told CBS 13. “If anyone knows Jeremy, he is a fighter and doesn’t mess around. He is crushing all the progress goals. We couldn’t feel more positive about the road ahead.”

We wish Jeremy Renner a speedy recovery and our thoughts are with him and his family.
