Fairies vs artillery in the trailer for Carnival Row season 2
By Dan Selcke
Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne return for a second (and final) round of Amazon’s faeries vs humans drama Carnival Row.
Carnival Row is a high-concept drama about an industrial revolution-era world where human beings live alongside creatures from the fae: fairies, trolls, and the like. The first season followed human detective Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate as he investigated a series of murders disrupting the delicate balance between the two populations.
Now the show is coming back for one more lap. Carnival Row season 2 will be the show’s final outing, and it once again involves a series of murders: this time, it looks like members of the fae are attacking human leaders, which will lead to no small amount of unrest. Watch the trailer below:
Carnival Row has had a difficult time of it. The show gained a fanbase when the first season debuted in 2019, but not one so big that Amazon simply had to drop everything it was doing and pour resources into it. Then the pandemic hit, which threw season 2 for a loop. It was actually done shooting in the summer of 2020, but things were so discombobulated that it’s only finally coming out in 2023.
At least the show will have a sendoff. The second and final season of Carnival Row will premiere on Amazon Prime Video February 17.
