New Doctor Who star Millie Gibson thinks Matt Smith’s Doctor is “so hot”
By WiC Staff
Matt Smith is currently entertaining people as Daemon Targaryen on House of the Dragon, where he’s murdering his wife and marrying his niece. It’s a far cry from what he got up to back during his days as the Doctor on Doctor Who, where his adventures were a little more family-friendly, if just as weird in other ways.
As it does every few years, Doctor Who is gearing up for a revival. But this one feels special. Before we get a brand new Doctor (played by Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa), David Tennant is going to return to the role in a series of specials set to air later this year. It’ll be Tennant’s first time back on the show since playing the Tenth Doctor years ago, even before Smith’s time.
For his part, Smith doesn’t sound like he’s going to be part of those specials, although incoming star Millie Gibson — who plays new companion Ruby Sunday — may wish things were otherwise. Responding to a recent collage of photos of Smith’s Eleventh Doctor on Twitter, the Coronation Street veteran simply wrote, “He’s so hot.”
Look, I’m not here to agree or disagree, only to give you the facts.
Another Doctor Who veteran returns to the show
In addition to Tennant, these specials will also mark the return of Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, a fan favorite companion. In fact, there’s a lot of old faces returning, including Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. On the show, Kate was a member of UNIT, a governmental organization meant to keep an eye on some of the wacky extraterrestrial adventures the Doctor gets mixed up in.
That info comes straight from the official Doctor Who Twitter account, which also reports that 1899 star Aneurin Barnard will join the series as a new character named Roger ap Gwilliam. And all of this is being orchestrated by Russel T Davies, who served as showrunner back when the show was revived following a lengthy hiatus in 2005 and is now returning.
It’s interesting times for Doctor Who. The new specials with David Tennant will start airing in November of this year. Ncuti Gatwa will officially take over as the new Doctor in 2024.
