HBO has now aired the first episode of The Last of Us, its adaptation of Naughty Dog’s video game series…and it was great!

There are eight more episodes left in season 1. HBO released a trailer giving us a sneak peak at what’s coming:

I love that image of Ellie gazing in awe at the ruined skyscrapers in Boston. Wouldn’t you the same? And of course the Infected look gnarly as hell.

There are lots of other intriguing images in there. We see Nick Offerman as Bill, a character from the first Last of Us game. We also see a glimpse into Ellie’s past, as well as some shots of a snowy landscape, which gamers know comes late in the story. Will Joel, Tess and Ellie be able to survive the perils coming their way? Will our hearts be able to take it if they don’t?

We have a jam-packed season ahead, folks. HBO also released a version of the trailer with Spanish subtitles:

New episodes of The Last of Us air every Sunday on HBO at 8:00 p.m. CST. They’ll also be available to watch on HBO Max.
