Invincible is coming out in “late 2023 (more or less)”
By Dan Selcke
There are so many superhero shows and movies out there these days, you’d figure there’s no way for a new one to break through…and yet it happens! In 2021, Amazon had a hit with Invincible, its animated adaptation of the comic book by Robert Kirkman, best known as the creator of The Walking Dead. With its combination of pure-hearted optimism and brutal ultra-violence, Invincible carved out a space for itself in a crowded market.
Fans have been waiting for season 2 now for a while, but there’s finally light at the end of the tunnel: Prime Video has released a funny little teaser for season 2 featuring lead character Mark Grayson, aka Invincible, hanging with Allen the Alien, who wants to know when new episodes are coming as much as the rest of us:
And there you have it! Invincible season 2 will come out in “late 2023,” although note that the title card says “more or less.” Hopefully it doesn’t slip into 2024.
Invincible season 2 gets a release date (sort of)!
When last we left Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), he just had a monster fight with his father Omni-Man (JK Simmons), who happens to be the most powerful superhero in the world. And when I say “fight,” I mean that Omni-Man beat his son to a brutal bloody pulp before leaving the planet after he couldn’t make himself strike the final blow. Omni-Man is actually part of a brutal alien race bent on dominating the galaxy. This family has problems.
Invincible has had a long run in comics, so there’s a lot of story left to adapt. Hopefully Amazon will keep new seasons coming at something of a faster clip moving forward.
