And s’more DC properties bite the dust. After canceling stuff like the Batgirl movie as well as Wonder Woman 3 last year, Deadline reports that Warner Bros. Discovery is winding down two DC superhero shows on HBO Max: Titans and Doom Patrol. Both shows are currently in the middle of their fourth seasons, which are both being released in two chunks. Those forthcoming second chunks will be the last anyone sees of these shows.

To be fair, both Titans and Doom Patrol have had decently long lives, especially in the age of streaming TV, and both are being given the opportunity to craft actual endings rather than being canceled abruptly and shuffled off to FAST streaming TV services, as was the fate of HBO series The Nevers and Westworld.

Titans is about a group of young heroes uniting to fight crime: the cast included folk like Starfire, Beast Boy, and various Robins. Doom Patrol was a weirder, more experimental show that featured the voice of Brendan Fraser as Robotman; Fraser is currently getting Oscar buzz for his performance in The Whale. Both shows started life on the defunct DC Universe streaming service, which is one of those things you look back on and think, “Was that even real?” Harley Quinn is the last DC show from that era still around.

James Gunn swears this isn’t his fault

DC Studios is currently in the process of rebuilding itself. And to rebuilt, first you have to tear down. New co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran have come under fire for some of their decisions, such as opting not to have Henry Cavill return as Superman even after he made a cameo in Black Adam. But Gunn was quick to assure folk on Twitter that he wasn’t responsible for the cancelation of Titans and Doom Patrol.

“The decision to end the series precedes us,” Gunn wrote. “But I certainly wish the best for the talented group of creators, actors, and the rest of the crew that produced both shows.”

As for what Gunn and Safran have planned for the future of DC, we’ll find out along with everyone else when they announce it.

The Walking Dead alum Michael Cudlitz is Lex Luthor in Superman & Lois

Besides Harley Quinn, one of the last DC shows standing is Superman & Lois over on The CW. Entertainment Weekly reports that season 3 will bring in longtime Superman baddie Lex Luthor, and that he’ll be played by Michael Cudlitz.

Cudlitz is best known as Abraham from The Walking Dead, a gruff survivor whom Negan beat to death with a baseball bat in one of the show’s most famous scenes.

Superman & Lois season 3 premieres on March 14. We don’t yet know when the second parts of Titans and Doom Patrol’s fourth seasons will drop.
