There have been a few Game of Thrones board games to come out over the years. A Game of Thrones: The Board Game is self-explanatory, Fantasy Flight Games made a card game based on the Song of Ice and Fire books, CMON made an army-based skirmish game where players went head to head with each other commanding the great armies of Westeros, and of course there have been Game of Thrones-branded versions of CLUE and Settlers of Catan and the like.

And now there’s another one on the way: Knight Models has announced that it’s acquired the license for Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. Knight Models is best known for a miniatures-based game about Batman, where players see who comes out on top in skirmishes between iconic characters from the franchise. For example:

Any game that Knight Models makes will likely focus on skirmishes between characters rather than armies, so expect something like Daemon vs Criston Cole rather than House Targaryen vs House Hightower. Or maybe they’ll cross the streams and let characters from Game of Thrones fight ones from House of the Dragon? Jaime vs Daemon! I’d like that.

There’s no word on when whatever game Knight Models is making might come out…or what it’s called…or how it plays. They just announced they got the license, give it a minute.
