It’s been over a year since Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprised their roles as different Peter Parkers in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and we are still not over it. I will never forget that feeling of realizing that all the rumors and leaked footage had been true. It was such a glorious and satisfying moment as a Marvel and Spider-Man fan!
Now we’re all curious about what comes next in the Spider-Man saga. Will Tom Holland return? Will Maguire and/or Garfield get another chance? Speaking with Marvel.com, Maguire sounds up for it. “When they called initially, I was like, finally!” he said. “I got the call and was immediately open about coming to do this. Not without nerves–you know, ‘What will this look like, and what will the experience be?’ But to get to show up with beautiful, talented, creative people and play together? It’s just like, ‘Yes!’ It’s fun and exciting.”
"I love these films, and I love all of the different series. If these guys called me and said, ‘Would you show up tonight to hang out and goof around?’ or ‘Would you show up to do this movie or read a scene or do a Spider-Man thing?’ It would be a ‘yes!’ Because why wouldn’t I want to do that?"
So of course he would do it again! Playing Spider-Man might be up there with playing James Bond. It’s something many actors would love to do.
Besides Spider-Man: No Way Home, Maguire hasn’t been in many movies as of late, although he had an unsettling cameo in Babylon. Along with Maguire, Garfield is also willing to return, and we are all eager to see them back! They’re ready, we’re ready, let’s make it happen, yeah?
Blade alum thinks modern superhero movies are “garbage” and “embarrassing”
Well, most of us want to see them back. There’s at least one guy who probably doesn’t: Stephen Dorff, who played the villain Deacon Frost in the original Blade movie back in 1998.
“If comic-book movies were more like when I started when we made Blade, or the few that have been decent over the years, like when Nolan did The Dark Knight and reinvented Batman from Tim Burton, who’s obviously a genius…when they were interesting, like when Norrington did Blade, and Guillermo was f***ing around in it,” Dorff told The Daily Beast. “But all this other garbage is just embarrassing, you know what I mean? I mean, God bless them, they’re making a bunch of money, but their movies suck . And nobody’s going to remember them. Nobody’s remembering Black Adam at the end of the day.”
"Marvel is used to me trashing them anyway. How’s that PG Blade movie going for you, that can’t get a director? [laughs] Because anybody who goes there is going to be laughed at by everyone, because we already did it and made it the best. There’s no Steve Norrington out there."
It’s true that Marvel has had some issues getting a director to stick around for its Blade movie. Maybe Dorff will love it when it finally comes out.
Disney+ quietly edits an episode of Ms. Marvel
One more bit of Marvel news for you today: fans have noticed that Marvel quietly edited the season finale of Ms. Marvel, which is set in New York City. In the original episode, the Statue of Liberty is her usual light green color, a result of the statue’s copper finish oxidizing. But in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is also set in NYC, the statue is being refurbished so they can add Captain America’s shield, and again has a copper color.
So now the color of the Statue of Liberty has been changed, like so:
You can stream the entirety of Ms. Marvel right now on Disney+.
