Game of Thrones alum Nikolaj Coster-Waldau to star in medieval horror movie Virtue
By Dan Selcke
Game of Thrones veterans are always busy. For instance, The Hollywood Reporter brings us the news that Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who played Jaime Lannister on HBO’s hit fantasy drama, will play a different knight in Virtue, a medieval horror movie.
Coster-Waldau plays Sir Peter, who returns home with his son after years on the road to find it ravaged by plague and social unrest. He stops the townspeople from burning a witch, which displeases them. To get back on their good side, he goes into the woods to rescue a woman who disappeared there: Fraya. But when he finds Fraya and her “possessed” daughter, he discovers that they may have fled on purpose to escape the superstitious townspeople.
Quite the pickle! There’s no word yet on when Virtue may arrive in theaters, but it sounds worth keeping an eye on.
Game of Thrones veteran Oona Chaplin will play an evil Na’vi leader in Avatar 3
Again I say, Game of Thrones veterans are always busy! According to Avatar producer Jon Landau, Oona Chaplin (who played Robb Stark’s doomed wife Talisa) will play a Na’vi alien named Varang in the upcoming third movie. Varang is the leader of the “Ash People,” who are like other Na’vi tribes, except they suck and are mean.
We already heard that Chaplin was playing this role, but it’s good to have it confirmed. “There are good humans and there are bad humans,” Landau told Empire. “It’s the same thing on the Na’vi side. Oftentimes, people don’t see themselves as bad. What is the root cause of how they evolve into what we perceive as bad? Maybe there are other factors there that we aren’t aware of.”
Maybe we’ll find out when Avatar 3 drops into theaters in December of 2024. Chaplin is also set to appear in Avatar 4, which will take place after a big time jump.
