Daisy Ridley is happy with Rey’s Star Wars ending, but would still return
By Ashley Hurst
Since the launch of Disney+, the Star Wars universe has continued to expand, but not on the big screen. Instead, it’s had a lot more success on streaming TV, with breakout shows like The Mandalorian and Andor. This has left something of a void where the movies are concerned, with characters like Rey (Daisy Ridley) left on the back burner. Disney’s Star Wars sequel movies — The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker — made big money at the box office but divided the fan base.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Daisy Ridley said that Rey’s story “ended in a wonderful way in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. She is immensely thankful for the experience and is totally down to step back into the galaxy far, far away if she gets a call:
"It’s already been an insane three years since that film came out. I feel like quite a different person. We’ve all gone through a massive change in the last three years, with lots of crazy things happening. So I really don’t know if there are plans. I just don’t know. But ultimately, I loved my experience, I loved what I got to do and I love the people I got to work with. So, should that happen again, even once, amazing. Because the dream is to really be around nice people that make you feel good and feel heard while you do good work."
Daisy Ridley: It would be “amazing” to return to the Star Wars universe
Ridley’s co-star John Boyega (Finn) has previously ruled himself out on a return to Star Wars. “I think Finn is at a good confirmation point where you can just enjoy him in other things, the games, the animation. But I feel like [Episode] VII to [Episode] IX was good for me,” he told SiriusXM.
The next Star Wars project is The Mandalorian season 3, which will premiere on March 1 on Disney+. There are several movies in the works with directors ranging from Taika Waititi, Patty Jenkins, and Damon Lindelof, although none of them have release dates. Watch this space.
