Deadline reports that Family Guy and The Orville creator Seth MacFarlane is developing a new comic book show for NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service. The show is an adaptation of the graphic novel series The Shrouded College, which is kind of like Hellboy crossed with Indiana Jones. Loosely, the series follows characters enlisted by a secret organization called The Shrouded College to fight in a supernatural Cold War. Themes of greed, capitalism, espionage and horror abound.

The first installment of The Shrouded CollegeHell to Pay, was published by Image Comics in November and written by Charles Soule and Will Sliney, who are slated to be executive producers on MacFarlane’s show. Several more comics are set to be released in the coming years, with The Bloody Dozen coming in late 2023.

Seth MacFarlane: The Orville season 4 is in “the hands of the audience”

MacFarlane’s production company Fuzzy Door will develop the show. They’re also the company behind The Orville, MacFarlane’s loving tribute to Star Trek. The third season of that show, New Horizons, premiered in June on Hulu and August on Disney+. But we haven’t heard about a fourth season yet.

Naturally, MacFarlane is hoping they get another season of The Orville, but if he’s shifting his attention to The Shrouded College, you wonder if that’s likely. “I think if we can get enough of those folks giving us a chance, the rewards will be in the form of a Season 4 and perhaps beyond,” he told Decider. “So it’s really in the hands of the audience. Because it is a business. The show is expensive to produce, it needs to justify its own existence with audience enthusiasm and viewership.”

In addition to The Shrouded College, Fuzzy Door is also busy with Family Guy, American Dad, a Good Times reboot and a Ted prequel show.
