Oh, for the love of…House of the Dragon getting NFT Funko Pops

You can either buy these digital Funko Pops or take a screen capture. It basically comes to the same thing, but don’t tell Funko that.

Funko Pops, the little big-headed figurines modeled off characters from every show or movie you’ve ever heard of, are legion. No book shelf is complete without a few of them. And they’re up to the minute. Right now, you can buy Funko Pop figures based on characters from HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon, which just came out last year.

But tell me if this interests you: what if you spent money on pictures on House of the Dragon Funkos? And not pictures in a frame; pictures of Funko Pops that live in a folder on your computer drive? Per Variety, Funko is at work right now on a series of digital House of the Dragon NFTs, aka non-fungible tokens. That means that every House of the Dragon NFT will come with a digital watermark that marks it as unique…although if someone downloads or even screencaps it it’ll be pretty hard to tell the difference. Whatever, you know you’ll have spent your money wisely.

The Funkos will come in standard packs of five for $9.99 each or premium packs of 15 for $9.99. Each of these offerings are limited to 31,250 packs…despite the fact that these goods are digital and infinitely replicable. But don’t think about that. Think about the fact that, with every purchase, you have a chance to get one of six rare Funko Digital Pops! that can be redeemed for a limited-edition physical collectible! Redeemable Pops include Rhaenrya Targaryen wearing her white wedding dress, an eyeless King Viserys wearing his golden crown, Aemond Targaryen bearing his sapphire eye, and Criston Cole.

The House of the Dragon Funkos go on sale on February 28 on Droppp.io. Physical figurines are available at stores.
