Development at on The Flash movie at DC Studios has been troubled. To start, it’s the last gasp of the DC Cinematic Universe as conceived by director Zack Snyder, which had been in trouble for years and is now being phased out in favor of a new universe to be ushered in by James Gunn and Peter Safran. For another, star Ezra Miller has had a terrible run of PR as they ran all over the country wrecking havoc.

But Miller has quieted down, and hype is building for The Flash. Character posters featuring Michael Keaton back as Batman helped. And here’s the official synopsis:

"Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?"

This is a popular Flash comic story loosely adapted in the animated movie Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox in 2013. It does sound pretty cool, and gets into that multiverse madness that’s all the rage in superhero movies nowadays.

The Flash movie is “Insane. Complete madness”

And the teases are starting to come. Jeff Lanzing and Collin Kelly, a writing duo who work on DC comics, talked about the movie on the ComicBook Nation Podcast Show, and couldn’t have been more effusive. “I know too much about that movie, I can’t talk about it,” Lanzing said. “I know secrets none of you know! I gotta be super chill when it comes to The Flash. All of this to say: I’m psyched.”

When asked how much the movie will blow people’s minds on a scale of 1 to 10, Lanzing didn’t hesitate. “Ten. Ten. I think that if even half the stuff I’ve heard is true, from people who should know… ten. Insane. Complete madness. But I also hear the movie is like, incredible.”

The Flash comes out on June 13. Are we ready to set aside everything and enjoy it?
