By Ariba Bhuvad
And just like that, Outlander season 7 has wrapped production ahead of its premiere later this year. It is a bittersweet feeling since this is the show’s penultimate season. As a day one Outlander fan, I have difficulty comprehending we are reaching the end. It’s been such a wonderful ride, and I can’t believe we’ve got just one more season left after season 7.
STARZ announced the end of production on their official Twitter account, sharing fun, silly pictures of cast members Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), Richard Rankin (Roger McKenzie), Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser), Sophie Skelton (Brianna McKenzie) and David Berry (Lord John Grey):
How adorable are they?!
Outlander season 7 wraps production
Premiering this summer, season 7 will continue to focus on the inhabitants of Fraser’s Ridge. At the end of season 6, Claire was arrested for the murder of Malva Christie (Jessica Reynolds). It looks like the series will be diving into the events of Diana Gabaldon’s book A Breath of Snow and Ashes before heading right into the seventh novel in the series, An Echo in the Bone.
Season 7 will see the return of John Bell (Young Ian), Graham McTavish (Dougal McKenzie), Lotte Verbeek (Geillis Duncan), and others. Some of those character died earlier in the series, so expect some flashbacks. We will also see Charles Vandervaart playing the role of Jamie’s illegitimate son/Lord John’s adopted son. There is just so much to look forward to, isn’t there?!
Unlike Outlander season 6, this upcoming season will have a whopping 16 episodes to make up for the super-short season last time. And to top all of this off, we’ve seen images from the upcoming season that tease the blue sapphire we saw in season 3. If you recall, Jamie gave it to Lord John after he escaped from Ardsmuir prison. In the book, Jamie asks Lord John for the gemstone when Brianna and Roger return to the future due to a health crisis requiring 20th century medical knowledge.
Outlander season 7 will be action-packed, and we must brace ourselves for the countless surprises in store. Get ready, Outlander fans; this is going to be amazing!
