The Wheel of Time rebuilds the Two Rivers set for season 3

The first season of The Wheel of Time premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2021 and the second season is due out later this year. But this is a marathon of a production; Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson wrote 14 Wheel of Time books in all, so Amazon could be making this show for years yet to come.

It’s unknown when exactly Amazon will begin shooting The Wheel of Time season 3, but a new report from WoT Series makes it look like it’ll be sooner rather than later. The website has images of a new set going up, or rather an old one: Amazon is rebuilding the Two Rivers, the bucolic fantasy backwater where the journey began.

The set is going up in the Czech Republic, almost exactly where the town was built for season 1. Fans will remember that most of our main characters — Rand, Perrin, Mat, Egwene and Nynaeve — lived in the sleepy Two Rivers region before Trollocs attacked the village of Emond’s Field. After that, they left with the Aes Sedai sorceress Moiraine on a world-spanning adventure.

The first season of The Wheel of Time covered the first book in the series, The Eye of the World. The second season looks set to combine the second and third books, The Great Hunt and The Dragon Reborn. It isn’t until the fourth book, The Shadow Rising, that some of the characters return to the Two Rivers, so that’s probably what the production is setting up for. As WoT Series reminds, there’s a big battle that goes down in the Two Rivers in Book 4; it’s easy to imagine it serving as a spectacular set piece in season 3 of the show.

With news of the season 2 release date still unconfirmed, this update gives The Wheel of Time fans some exciting new information to think about.

The Wheel of Time Season 1 is available for streaming on Amazon Prime.
