Mark Grayson, aka Invincible, is the star of his animated series on Amazon Prime Video. He’s a pretty overpowered superhero, but has he got the skills to defeat even the most dangerous heroes and villains from Marvel and DC’s humongous rosters? Well, Invincible co-creator Ryan Ottley likes to think Grayson can beat anyone. Definitely no bias here!

Mark Grayson, who first appeared in the Invincible comics published by Image, shares a lot of similarities with Superman. Thanks to his Viltrumite blood, he can soar across the sky at breakneck speed, he’s got super strength, accelerated healing, and a much longer lifespan than humans. Unlike Superman, however, he doesn’t have laser eyes.

During an interview with Skybound, Invincible creators Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley, and Cory Walker engaged in the the age-old geeky debate: Which superhero could defeat which superhero? During their discussion, they pitted Invincible against some of the genre’s most famous characters. Take a look:

According to Ottley, the Avengers could’ve used Invincible’s help in their war against Mad Titan Thanos. “I think even with . He’s about to snap, and just breaks the fingers. Rips the glove. Now Invincible has the gauntlet.”

When it’s put like that, it makes the Avengers sound like a bunch of fools, right? It’s worth noting that both Kirkman and Walker disagreed with the notion of Grayson defeating Thanos. But Ottley was confident. “Invincible demolishes Superman,” he said.

Could Invincible defeat Homelander from The Boys?

Last year, Ottley posted an illustration on Twitter of how he thinks a fight would go between Homelander, the psychotic superhero from The Boys, and Mark Greyson’s superhero father Omni-Man. Naturally, Homelander’s lazer eyes bounce off Omni-Man, who effortlessly kills him.

So how would this fight go down if he were fighting Mark Grayson? Robert Kirkman believes it depends on the progress Invincible has made in developing his powers.

“So I’ve actually talked to [The Boys producers] Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg about this, and they have conceded that Homelander is significantly less powerful than Omni-Man, and that Omni-Man would trash Homelander easily,” he said. “But it is a question how Invincible would handle him. Early series Invincible, you know, I think he would definitely have a hard time fighting Homelander.”

"While Homelander might have less strength, he’s got more of the Superman power set, let’s just say that. So, I think Invincible would definitely have a hard time with him, especially early on in his career, because Homelander is a seasoned superhero pro. Also not going to hesitate going to a violent place whereas Mark might."

Later on in the comics, Grayson goes for a slight rebrand, swapping out is iconic blue-and-yellow costume for blue and black. At that point in his life, Kirkman is certain that Homelander wouldn’t stand a chance. “Blue costume Invincible would trash Homelander,” he said.

Invincible season 2 will premiere later this year on Amazon Prime Video.
