Rumors have been circulating regarding when the fifth and final season of Stranger Things will begin filming. We’ve heard from a handful of the cast, but now David Harbour (Sheriff Jim Hopper) has seemingly confirmed that filming will start later this year in June.
Harbour recently said that while it is bittersweet that the series is coming to a close, it is “time for it to end.” While at Middle East Film & Comic-Con in Abu Dhabi, Harbour spoke about the final season and what fans can expect. “We’re walking into season 5. I’ve got a couple more months to train. We start shooting that in June, though, and that will be the final season,” he said. “I did a lot of training for season 4. He was in a very specific position, that Russian prison. It was about making him a different guy and sort of shedding a layer of himself physically, mentally, and emotionally. But now he’s back in town, he’s back in America where they have cheeseburgers, so he will be well-fed.”
Hopper is going from the gulag to Burger King. It will be an adjustment, I’m certain he will settle in. And he better, because as we saw at the end of season 4, he and the gang will need all the help they can get to beat back the Upside Down, which is invading our dimension.
Eddie Munson “unlikely” to return for Stranger Things season 5
Meanwhile, season 4 breakout star Joseph Quinn (Eddie Munson) appeared at London Comic Con over the weekend, where he fielded questions about his character potentially return for season 5.
“I mean, they’re shooting soon! I don’t know … I’d love to be — I died,” he said, according to Metro. “I think it’s probably unlikely. That’s my honest answer.”
As a fan from the very start, I have a hard time comprehending that Stranger Things is ending. It feels strange, no pun intended, that we’re getting ready to say goodbye. If we had to guess, we’d say that we can expect to see the fifth and final season in 2024; that’s what star Finn Wolfhard hinted at in a recent interview.
