Andy Serkis would “jump at the chance” to play Gollum again
By Ariba Bhuvad
Like every other Lord of the Rings fan, I was excited over the news that Warner Bros. Discovery wants to make more Lord of the Rings movies. It’s such a massive world; even with the new Amazon Prime show The Rings of Power, there’s always more story to tell.
It’s unclear what timeline the movies would follow and what characters would be involved. However, I’d love to see Andy Serkis’ Gollum return in some capacity. He’s just so…precious, you know?
But would Serkis want to come back? Or is he done with that Gollum life? Here’s what he had to say about that while on BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast.
Andy Serkis would love to return as Gollum in new Lord of the Rings movies
I think one of the biggest questions about the new Lord of the Rings movies is whether or not Peter Jackson will direct them. We don’t know, but if he’s on board, Serkis is on board.
“Look, [producers] Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens are sort of a second family that I have become part of and have gone on to make so many films with,” Serkis said. “And — let me tell you — they are the best and most incredible people to work with. I think there are so many other potential Middle-earth projects that could come about, and if they’re doing them, I would jump at the chance to have that relationship rekindled. Middle-earth has never left me.”
Please come back as Gollum, please.
We don’t have any solid updates regarding the future of the new Lord of the Rings movies, but Jackson has said that he’s been “kept in the loop every step of the way” since the announcement. So keep an eye out, and we may see some old friends once again!
