The last time we saw Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Univers was in last year’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In that movie, Wanda fully embraced her Scarlet Witch identity and wreaked havoc across the multiverse. By the end of the flick, she ultimately destroyed the Darkhold (an all-powerful book of spells), sacrificing herself in the process, being crushed in the rubble of Wundagore Castle.

It’s safe to say Wanda probably isn’t dead. Mortality in superhero universes is a precarious thing. Fans can’t get enough of her; Multiverse of Madness grossed just under $1 billion at the global box office and WandaVision is one of the most beloved shows on Disney+. It wasn’t long ago that Wanda was being hailed the “crown jewel” of the MCU.

Even so, it remains unclear if and when Wanda will return, but looking ahead to the upcoming projects in Phase 5, there’s one show that fans are convinced she will play a part in: Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

Elizabeth Olsen thinks Wanda Maximoff will return in Agatha: Coven of Chaos

Given that Coven of Chaos continues the story of Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) — who was introduced into the MCU in WandaVision — it seems like a natural place for Wanda to show up. There’s a huge overlap in their stories. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but during Olsen’s appearance at the Oscars, she seemed pretty certain that a return is happening. “I think she’ll be back,” she told Deadline.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos has nine episodes and will premiere either later this year or early 2024. A specific release date has not yet been revealed. So far, we already know of several WandaVision stars who will reprise their roles for the spinoff, including Amos Glick, David Payton, Emma Caulfield, Debra Jo Rupp, David Lengel, Asif Ali, Brian Brightman and Kate Forbes.

If Wanda is involved, it’ll be interesting to see how the show deals with the fallout from Multiverse of Madness.
