Sacha Baron Cohen might play Mephisto in the MCU

Does everyone remember Mephisto? The villain that was seemingly teased throughout WandaVision but never made an appearance? Okay, the rumors began because viewers wanted it to happen so badly, but they were still burned when he didn’t show up.

In any case, there are now rumors that Mephisto could finally be making an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. To clarify, this is not confirmed nor is it official. Comic Book Resources shared this alleged rumor stating that Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen could play Mephisto in a Disney+ special connected to the upcoming show Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

Is it true? No one knows. Would it be absolutely amazing? Heck yes, it would!

Is Sacha Baron Cohen playing Mephisto in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Mephisto is an extra-dimensional demon who rules over a place that resembles what a lot of think of us hell. In the comics, he fought against the Silver Surfer and won, and if you’re an MCU comic fan, then you know Silver Surfer is one of the strongest characters in this universe.

So where did Comic Book Resources get this intel about Mephisto? Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic Podcast claimed that Sacha Baron Cohen is currently shooting the Mephisto special on the set of Agatha: Coven of Chaos. 

He seemed confident about this rumor and said that previous reports were correct about Cohen playing Mephisto. One of the first times we heard this was in October 2022 when reports began surfacing that Cohen would play the character in the upcoming Ironheart series. Deadline seemed to corroborate this rumor with a source close to the production. Not to mention, Cohen was seen around Pinewood Studios, which is tied with Marvel productions.

Considering all this, all signs are pointing to Sacha Baron Cohen as Mephisto. We’d all love to see that, so we’ll be crossing our fingers that this rumor is true.

Elizabeth Olsen wants “redemption” for Wanda

Coven of Chaos is a spinoff of WandaVision, which starred Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda/the Scarlet Witch. We last saw her in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where her journey seemed to come to an end. But in the MCU, just because you die doesn’t mean you’re dead.

We don’t know if Wanda is coming back, but if she does, Olsen has some ideas about where to take her story. “We can do anything with her now!” she told ScreenRant. “I feel like we’ve done so much. Now, we can really have fun; I feel like there’s a lot more humor to be had with her. She’s often the emotion of a story, and I’m curious to see what we can explore. And hopefully [we can] give her some redemption.”

Agatha: Coven of Chaos is due out on Disney+ later this year. Who knows who’ll pop up in it?
