Tom Cruise has watched The Flash movie with Ezra Miller, and he was bowled over. Do we need any other confirmation? Does any other critic’s review matter?

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s sources, Cruise met with Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav back in February. After Zaslav talked up The Flash movie, which is set to transition the DCEU into a new era, Cruise was eager to check it out, and whatever Tom Cruise wants, he gets. A completed copy of the film was sent to his house for a private screening.

Upon watching the film, Cruise apparently liked it so much that he called director Andy Muschietti to rave about it. PerTHR, Cruise said something like “everything you want in a movie” and “this is the kind of movie we need now.” Considering Top Gun: Maverick revived the movie industry, that is incredibly high praise.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods underperforms at the box office ahead of The Flash

It’ll be interesting to see how The Flash fares with audiences, especially given all the allegations leveled against star Ezra Miller. Will people be able to look past that and enjoy the film for what it is? Will Michael Keaton’s cameo as Batman be enough to sway them? Do people want another story about the multiverse after Marvel has run it into the ground?

WBD has a lot riding on The Flash. Their latest superhero offering, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, underperformed at the box office with a weekend debut of $30 million, below projections of $35 million and far below the $53 million the first movie took in on its opening weekend in 2019.

Tune in to see if Tom Cruise’s opinions hold true when The Flash releases in theaters on June 16.
