In less than a month, the new The Last Kingdom movie Seven Kings Must Die will drop on Netflix. Set in medieval England, The Last Kingdom television series followed the renowned warlord Uhtred son of Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon) as he fought to reclaim his ancestral home of Bebbanburg. But by the end of the show, Uhtred’s story still had a little bit left to go: the series is based on the Saxon Stories books by Bernard Cornwell, and the show didn’t quite make it to the end.

Enter Seven Kings Must Die, which will take events from Cornwell’s final books and compress them into a two-hour film to cap off Uhtred’s adventures.

With the film’s release imminent, it’s a great time to watch or rewatch The Last Kingdom. If you’re curious how many seasons of it there are so you can plan out how much time you’ll need, we’ve got you covered.

How many seasons did The Last Kingdom run on Netflix?

In total, there are five seasons of The Last Kingdom. The first season consisted of eight episodes, while each subsequent season contained 10. That means that if you wanted to watch The Last Kingdom in its entirety before Seven Kings Must Die, you’d have to get through 48 episodes of television. Doable, but quite a feat!

Over the course of those five seasons, Uhtred of Bebbanburg goes from a young boy thrown out of his ancestral home to one of the most famous warriors in medieval England. It’s a saga for the ages.

We’ll see how it concludes when The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die premieres on Netflix on April 14.
