House of the Dragon star Ty Tennant joins dad David in Good Omens season 2
By Dan Selcke
Good Omens, based on the book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, has a passionate following. The show, which aired on Amazon in 2019, follows a pair of unlikely friends: the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant), who team up to save the planet when they discover that the end times are near. Naturally, Amazon ordered a second season. With the first having covered the whole book, the second will be original, although Gaiman has said it’s based on ideas he and Pratchett had for a sequel they never ended up writing.
“In this season we get to have new adventures with old friends, to solve some extremely mysterious mysteries, and we encounter some entirely new humans (living, dead, and otherwise), angels, and demons,” Gaiman teased. “We were lucky in the first season to have so many outstanding actors taking part, so I took pleasure in inviting people back, wherever we could, some in the roles they played originally, some in new parts written just for them.”
Returning actors will include Sheen and Tennant back as Aziraphale and Crowley, obviously. Miranda Richardson, who played Madame Tracy in the first season, will be back as a demon named Shacks. As for the new arrivals, apparently it’s a family affair.
Ty Tennant (young Aegon Targaryen in House of the Dragon) will star in Good Omens season 2
According to Radio Times, Ty Tennant and Peter Davison will be joining Good Omens season 2 as new characters named Ennon and Alistair. As it happens, Ty Tennant and Peter Davison are David Tennant’s son and father-in-law respectively.
Although this isn’t (just) a case of nepotism. Both actors have established their British fantasy/sci-fi bona fides. Ty Tennant recently played the teenaged Aegon Targaryen in the first season of HBO’s House of the Dragon, while Davison played the Fifth Doctor on Doctor Who back in the ’80s.
There’s no exact release date for the second season of Good Omens as of yet, but we should expect it out on Amazon sometime this summer.
