Jonathan Majors, star of Creed III and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, has been arrested in New York City, per VarietyThe police released a statement; obviously Majors is the “33-year-old male”:

"A preliminary investigation determined that a 33-year-old male was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30 year-old female. The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident. The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition."

The police statement listed several potential charges, including “strangulation,” “assault” and “harassment.”

Jonathan Majors denies wrongdoing after arrest for domestic violence

According to TMZ, which first reported this story, Majors is now out of custody. “He has done nothing wrong,” a spokesperson said. “We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.”

Marvel hasn’t released a statement on the arrest. This could be problematic for the studio, since Majors recently played who is expected to be the major villain for the phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Kang. One upcoming movie, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, even bears the character’s name. On Twitter, Majors’ name was trending alongside that of Ezra Miller, an actor from the DC Cinematic Universe who’s caused some PR problems for Warner Bros. Discovery.

That said, Miller is still starring in The Flash movie this June, so who knows what the discourse around Majors will be like a few months from now. Majors’ new movie Magazine Dreams was recently acquired by Searchlight Pictures and due out in theaters this December. He’s also signed on to star in Spike Lee’s new movie Da Understudy from Amazon Studios.

Jonathan Majors’ lawyer says he is “completely innocent,” cites proof

UPDATE: Jonathan Majors’ lawyer Priya Chaudhry has released a statement about the situation: “Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows,” she said. “We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently.”

"All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever. Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday. The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon."

Chaudhry says there is video footage from the vehicle where the alleged incident took place, witness testimony from the driver as well as onlookers, and two written statements from the woman where she recants the allegations.
