The second season of The Wheel of Time, Amazon’s adaptation of Robert Jordan’s landmark fantasy series, is coming out on Amazon Prime Video this year…we think. That’s always been the goal, and we know they’ve shot the new episodes, but we don’t have a release date yet. Anytime you wanna announce one would be cool with us, Jeff.

That said, the official Wheel of Time social media pages did recently drop a little something to tide fans over: a deleted scene from the first episode of the show, featuring Egwene al’Vere (Madeleine Madden) talking with Tam al’Thor (Michael McElhatton), the father of main character Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski).

In the scene, Tam reminisces about when Egwene was young, and his late wife would look after her. It’s really just a wind up to ask Egwene not to break Rand’s heart, since it’s obvious that Rand has it pretty bad for Egwene. Watch below:

When does The Wheel of Time season 2 premiere on Amazon Prime Video?

I thought this scene was very sweet! A shame it was cut. There was a lot of vulnerability from Tam, which could be strange to see if you’re a Game of Thrones fan and you still remember McElhatton’s chilling performance as the merciless Roose Bolton from that show.

We probably won’t see more of Tam in the second season of the show, since he sits out the next stretch of book. But it’s very possible he could return after that. Now if only we knew when to expect more episodes…
