“We are Sex Bob-Omb! One, two, three, four!”

Fans of the Scott Pilgrim comic series and the 2010 film adaptation, rejoice!  In case you didn’t know, Netflix’s Scott Pilgrim anime is set to be released in the near future. The news that Scott Pilgrim was making the leap to animation was first teased by the comic’s creator, Bryan Lee O’Malley, during an Entertainment Weekly interview in 2020 to celebrate the film’s 10-year anniversary, much to the excitement of fans worldwide. Today, Netflix gave another exciting update by confirming that the actors from the 2010 cult classic movie will return to lend their voice talents to the anime.

Scott Pilgrim anime featuring the original movie cast is on the way!

Scott Pilgrim is a comic series that debuted in 2004 and quickly became a cult favorite. It follows the story of Scott Pilgrim, a 23-year-old slacker and bassist in a band called Sex Bob-Omb, as he falls in love with a mysterious girl named Ramona Flowers. In order to be with her, he must defeat her seven evil exes in a series of epic battles. The comic series was later adapted into a movie directed by Edgar Wright starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, which also gained a cult following.

The announcement of a Scott Pilgrim anime is exciting news for fans of the series, as it offers the opportunity to revisit the beloved characters and storylines in a new, fun to explore medium. The anime is being produced by Universal Content Productions, the same studio responsible for the movie adaptation, and animation studio Annapurna. The exact release date has not been confirmed, but it is expected to be available for streaming on Netflix upon release.
