It’s been more than a year since The Witcher season 2 hit Netflix, and the anticipation to find out what happens next for Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Princess Ciri remains high. With various forces across the Continent setting out to either manipulate Ciri or assassinate her, the stakes have never been higher for our found family of heroes.
With each month that passes, we grow closer to finding out the answers. But when exactly will The Witcher season 3 be releasing Netflix? Let’s go over the latest dispatches from the Continent.
The Witcher season 3 release date
While we are getting closer to the premiere of The Witcher season 3, unfortunately it will not happen in April 2023. Netflix has confirmed that we should expect The Witcher season 3 release date to fall sometime in Summer 2023. They have not yet set an exact date, but considering that we’re now into spring, it’s only a matter of time until that changes.
As for news, the latest bit of information about season 3 comes from an interview with VFX supervisor Sébastien Francoeur and producer Graeme Marshall. While discussing their work on both The Witcher as well as The Witcher: Blood Origin spinoff, Marshall let slip that season 3 will feature things that have never been “seen before in Witcher lore.” Here’s his full quote:
"[W]e’re working on some pretty tasty stuff for the next season. We’re at the point where we’re showing the creative team now, and they’re being wowed by the stuff we’re showing them, so that’s cool.”As far as season 4 is concerned, we haven’t really gotten too heavily involved just yet. But with season 3, we’re in the throes of delivering the final couple of episodes on that, and it’s super cool. I don’t think it’s anything that anyone’s read or seen before in Witcher lore, so I think it’s gonna be exciting."
Whether the idea of sweeping changes to The Witcher lore in season 3 excites you or makes you nervous, we’ll see what it actually looks like when the season premieres this summer.
