Queen of America Kim Kardashian to star in American Horror Story season 12

Reality TV queen Kim Kardashian has joined the cast of American Horror Story season 12, subtitled “Delicate.” Kardashian broke the news on her socials, along with a creepy little teaser:

Season 12 of the long-running horror show is based on Danielle Valentine’s upcoming novel Delicate Condition, which comes out in August. The Hollywood Reporter says it’s about a woman who believes “that a sinister figure” is attempting to “make sure her pregnancy never happens.” Sounds a bit Rosemary’s Baby-esque. This marks the first time a season of American Horror Story is based on existing source material rather than inspired by whatever camp classics creator Ryan Murphy is mainlining that week.

“Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family,” Murphy said in a statement. “Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role, especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done.”

“Emma” would be Emma Roberts, who’s done several seasons of American Horror Story. Meanwhile, calling Kim Kardashian a “television star” is accurate but a little misleading, as she’s far better known for her reality empire than dramatic acting; AHS season 12 will mark her first time in a starring role in a scripted series.

Anyway, Kim Kardashian being in American Horror Story makes complete sense. The show has always had a thing for celebrity divas; it famously gave Lady Gaga a starring role in season 5, and let’s not forget that it’s featured appearances from queens like Stevie Nicks and Naomi Campbell. Meanwhile, acting greats like Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett have gotten to chew up the scenery in vampy roles. Kim very much fits the AHS aesthetic.

We don’t know exactly when American Horror Story: Delicate will land on FX, but expect it to premiere some time this summer.
