David Tennant has joined the cast of the upcoming Star Wars series Ahsoka. As we learned during this past weekend’s Star Wars Celebration in London, Tennant plays a lightsaber-toting droid anmed Huyang. Other than that, we don’t know much about the character, but David Tennant voicing a sword-fighting robot is enough to get us on board.

Writer and director Dave Filoni weighed in on the Doctor Who star joining the Ahsoka cast. “Oh that’s the Doctor, that’s David Tennant,” Filoni said. “He makes it all work, what a joy, what a privilege to have him.”

Tennant is coming in at a pivotal moment for the universe, as Star Wars: Rebels fans will tell you. Along with Rosario Dawson playing the lead role as Ahsoka, fans finally get the live-action version of Sabine Wren, played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo.

While the Ahsoka trailer was released for the general public, fans at the Star Wars Celebration were given an extended look and got an exclusive sneak peek at Lars Mikkelsen Grand Admiral Thrawn, a major villain who fans have been waiting for years to see in live-action. Mikkelsen voiced the character in the animated series, so it’s exciting to know that he will continue to play Thrawn in the Disney+ show.

It was officially confirmed that Mary Elizabeth Winstead would be playing Rebels character Hera Syndulla. I honestly couldn’t be happier with all these announcements!

All these Ahsoka updates, new Star Wars films, and the return of Daisy Ridley…we couldn’t have asked for a better Star Wars Celebration!

Next. Daisy Ridley returns as Rey, Ahsoka trailer, and more Star Wars bombshells. dark
