Robust Game of Thrones mod comes to Crusader Kings III

facebooktwitterreddit

Crusader Kings III is a strategy role-playing game published by Paradox Interactive. With its focus on politics and medieval warfare, it’s practically screaming out for a Game of Thrones, and that’s just what a team of developers have created: enter AGOT, a mod that lets players participate in Robert’s Rebellion against King Aerys Targaryen, aka the Mad King, the conflict that sets the stage for A Song of Ice and Fire.

This same team created a Game of Thrones mod for Crusader Kings II that proved very popular, but times change, games age, and an update was needed. As you can tell from the trailer, the developers — who provided more details on the mod on Reddit — really did their homework. They even took notes from fans about Aerys’ nails being too short.

Game of Thrones mod for Crusader Kings III focuses on Robert’s Rebellion

Again, this mod focuses on Robert’s Rebellion, in part because that’s an awesome part of the story we’ve never seen onscreen or in print, and in part because it means the developers don’t have to includes White Walkers and dragons from the jump. Those things take time, but we can expect them to enter the picture at some point.

Right now the AGOT mod for Crusader Kings III is in beta. According to Kotaku, it’s a perfect fit for the Crusader Kings series, to the point where it feels more like an officially licensed product than a mod. Official release date to come.
