Rumor: Adam Driver may play Reed Richards in Fantastic Four movie
Former Star Wars star Adam Driver is rumored to be in talks to portray Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise.
The rumor supposedly originated from leaker Daniel Richtman and has yet to be confirmed by Disney or Marvel. The new Fantastic Four movie is slated to premiere on February 14, 2025 but there has yet to be any official casting announcements. John Krasinski, long a popular fan cast for Reed Richards, actually appeared as the character in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness last year, but he has since hinted that this was a one-time thing. Since the MCU is now neck deep in the multiverse, any and all characters can be recast with an easy in-universe explanation to excuse it.
No plot details have been revealed either, but Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm will have to appear to round out the team. Kevin Feige has said that this new film will not be an origin story, but portray an already assembled Fantastic Four team. As for the villain, Doctor Doom, the Silver Surfer and Galactus are all likely choices.
Adam Driver could join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four movie
Should Driver get the gig, it will be his first appearance in the MCU, although he did have a prominent role in another major Disney franchise: Star Wars, where he played Kylo Ren for three films.
The new Fantastic Four movie has a lot to prove after two mediocre films in the recent past. Hopefully Disney can finally get the iconic superhero team right on the big screen. Does Driver have the chops to make it work?
