Cassian Andor can’t catch a break. Filming on Star WarsAndor season 2 is well underway in the UK, but a potential speed bump this week has caused the shoot to be paused. BBC.com reports that the production had to cancel filming dates in Winspit Quarry, a location on the Jurassic Coast in Dorsett.

Andor filmed in this location for season 1; it’s where Saw Guerrera (Forest Whitaker) and his crew of Rebels were hanging out. For season 2, producers were forced to cancel filming there because of “recent turbulent weather, which has increased the risk of rockfalls and landslips,” according to manager of the National Trust in Purbeck, Tracey Churcher.

Andor season 2 filming canceled due to rockslide concerns

Churcher released a full statement about the issue, and it goes beyond Andor; normal visitors are being discouraged to avoid Winspit Quarry for the time being as well.

"The coast and cliffs along this stretch of the coast, including the quarry, can be unstable and naturally liable to landslips and falls – particularly after extreme weather including heavy rainfall and hot, dry periods.People should always stay well back from the cliff and rock edges, whether on or below them, and we ask people not to visit Winspit Quarry until our experts are confident it is safe to visit again."

So there you have it: Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy can’t go to the quarry. Diego Luna can’t go to the quarry. You can’t go to the quarry! No one goes to the quarry until the rocks decide falling sounds like a bad idea and settle back down.

Fortunately, Winspit Quarry is just one of many locations where Andor season 2 is filming, so this is not a halt on the production as a whole, just on shooting in this one spot. Hopefully things clear up there soon so that Andor can get back to shooting and sightseers to sightseeing.
