JordanCon, the popular fan convention for author Robert Jordan’s beloved series The Wheel of Time, happened this past weekend, and you know what that means: there’s Wheel of Time news afoot! The Amazon series has often used JordanCon as a way to connect with the fandom and tease what lies ahead for the television show, and this year didn’t break the trend.

The big news to come out of the convention is that four new recurring cast members were announced for The Wheel of Time’s upcoming season!

The Wheel of Time season 2 has found its Bain, Chiad, Sheriam Sedai and Dain Bornhald!

First up, we have Danish actor Maja Simonsen (Emily In Paris) and Icelandic actress and two-time Olympic swimmer Ragga Ragnars (Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla) as Chiad and Bain, respectively. Bain and Chiad are part of the Aiel, a desert-dwelling people who feature prominently in the book series. Specifically, these two Maidens of the Spear are first-sisters, which can either mean that they’re literal half-sisters who share a mother or they’ve been bonded by an Aiel Wise Woman. (In their case, it’s the latter.)

Bain and Chiad first crop up in book 3, The Dragon Reborn, where they cross paths with Egwene, Nynaeve, and Elayne Trakand. They’re mainstays of the series, so hopefully Simonsen and Ragnars stick around The Wheel of Time for a while!

Next up, we have Jay Duffy (Vikings) as Dain Bornhald, a member of the zealous Whitecloaks. Dain is the son of Geofram Bornhald, who is played by Stuart Graham in both seasons 1 and 2. He develops a longstanding conflict with Perrin, so expect this to be another character who sticks around for quite a while.

And lastly, we have confirmation that Rima Te Wiata will be playing Sheriam Sedai, Head of Novices for the White Tower of the Aes Sedai. This casting was previously reported on by WoTseries, but now it’s official! Sheriam is another recurring role, a central figure in the development of Nynaeve, Elayne and Egwene on their path to becoming Aes Sedai.

The Wheel of Time season 2 is expected to premiere sometime later in 2023.

Next. All 5 seasons of The Last Kingdom (and the movie), ranked worst to best. dark
