The Witcher drops first poster for season 3, big news coming tomorrow…

We last watched new episodes of The Witcher back in 2021, when the divisive second season of the show dropped on Netflix. Season 2 changed a lot about The Witcher book series by Andrzej Sapkowski. Will season 3 correct course?

We’ll find out soon enough. Netflix released their first poster for season 3, featuring lead characters Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Ciri (Freya Allan) in a group hug:

These three mostly spent the first season of the show on their own tracks. In the second season, Ciri trained with Geralt to become a witcher, and then Yennefer tried to…sacrifice her in order to get back her own magical powers? That plotline went a bit off the rails. In any case, it looks like season 3 will see the trio form into a little surrogate family as they do in the books.

And then there’s the note about holding tight until tomorrow. Can we expect a release date? A trailer? It looks like Netflix is ramping up the marketing on this one.

The Witcher casts new villain for season 3

Meanwhile, scoop site Redanian Intelligence reports that actor Sunny Patel will be playing a new villain in season 3: Ralf Blunden, aka the Professor.

Blunden is an assassin sent after Ciri pretty early in the third book, Time of Contempt. With a name like that, I see why he wanted a new criminal moniker.

We don’t yet know when The Witcher season 3 will come out on Netflix, but hopefully we’ll know more very soon! This will be the last season where Henry Cavill plays the role of Geralt. After season 3, the character will be played by Liam Hemsworth.
