Are you feeling jaded with the state of the world? A new season of Black Mirror is on the way to validate you. The trailer hints at more cautionary tales of modern technology run amuck, making us feel at once grateful to live in the world we do and terrified of what it’s becoming.

Season 5 of Black Mirror premiered all the way back in 2019. Season 6 has been a long time coming, but it’s finally here. Watch the trailer below:

Black Mirror season 6 is coming out this June!

Created by Charlie Brooker, Black Mirror is a sci-fi horror series in the vein of The Twilight Zone, with each episode functioning as its own standalone story that explores some aspect of technology, usually with some profoundly dystopian undertones. One of the nice things about the anthology format is that Black Mirror can bring in a ton of exciting guest stars. Past seasons having included Anthony Mackie, Miley Cyrus, Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Jesse Plemons, Bryce Dallas Howard, Andrew Scott, and many others.

Season 6 will be no different. It will include performances by Aaron Paul, Anjana Vasan, Annie Murphy, Auden Thornton, Ben Barnes, Clara Rugaard, Daniel Portman, Danny Ramirez, Himesh Patel, John Hannah, Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Michael Cera, Monica Dolan, Myha’la Herrold, Paapa Essiedu, Rob Delaney, Rory Culkin, Salma Hayek Pinault, Samuel Blenkin, Zazie Beetz, and Salma Hayek.

According to creator and executive producer Charlie Brooker, this season will push boundaries for the series. Considering how edgy Black Mirror has always been, that’s got us more than a little nervous.

"Partly as a challenge, and partly to keep things fresh for both me and the viewer, I began this season by deliberately upending some of my own core assumptions about what to expect. Consequently, this time, alongside some of the more familiar Black Mirror tropes we’ve also got a few new elements, including some I’ve previously sworn blind the show would never do, to stretch the parameters of what ‘a Black Mirror episode’ even is. The stories are all still tonally Black Mirror through-and-through — but with some crazy swings and more variety than ever before."

“I can’t wait for people to binge their way through it all and hope they enjoy it — especially the bits they shouldn’t,” Brooker told Tudum.

Netflix has confirmed that Black Mirror season 6 will hit the streaming platform in June, though no specific release day has yet been announced.
