Warrior is a historical fiction drama that premiered on Cinemax back in 2019. It’s about a Chinese immigrant, Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), who comes to San Francisco in the 1870s in search of his sister and gets mixed up in the real-life Tong Wars. There are political power plays, star-crossed lovers and a whole lot of martial arts action scenes that kick so much ass it shouldn’t be legal.

Warrior has run for two seasons and has mostly flown under the radar, which is a shame because the show is incredible. Maybe it’s because I knew almost nothing about it going in, but I was blown away in short order. Cinemax canceled it, which sucked, but HBO Max picked it up, which was joyous. And now, they’ve released a teaser trailer for the third season:

If you’ve never heard of this show, please do yourself a favor and check it out! It needs more love.

Warrior season 3 premieres on Max on June 29

If you’re wondering what “Max” is, I remind that HBO Max will shortly be dropping the HBO and just calling itself “Max.” Whatever, as long as Warrior is on it, I’ll watch.

June is turning into a pretty big month for TV. There are new seasons of The Witcher, Black Mirror and Outlander on the way, plus splashy new shows like The Idol. Hopefully Warrior doesn’t get lost in the crush. I mean, it probably will, but it shouldn’t!
