The Wheel of Time season 2 isn’t coming in May 2023

The Wheel turns, and months come and pass…yet no release dates greet our tired eyes. Season 1 of Amazon’s hit fantasy series The Wheel of Time debuted back in the fall of 2021, and since then we’ve all been eagerly awaiting our next adventure with Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski), Nynaeve al’Maera (Zoë Robins) and the rest. What fate awaits the Dragon Reborn following the climactic clash at the Eye of the World?
While season 2 may not be on our TV screens quite yet, there have been some exciting updates in the past month.
When is The Wheel of Time season 2 release date?
Let’s get the bad news out of the way first: The Wheel of Time season 2 is not coming out in May of 2023. Amazon has yet to confirm a solid release date, however some recent information might have shed light on when we could expect the season to drop.
According to Wheel of Time YouTube news channel WoT Up!, The Wheel of Time author Robert Jordan’s widow and longtime editor Harriet McDougal let slip during a recent interview that, “There will be a season 2 of the series out sometime this fall.” She then promptly walked that statement back, leaving us to speculate about whether she let slip something she shouldn’t have or not.
Either way, fall seems pretty likely. Showrunner Rafe Judkins previously confirmed that we would be seeing season 2 at some point this year.

There have been some other exciting updates as well! Four new castings for the series were revealed at The Wheel of Time fan convention JordanCon last month: the Aiel first-sisters Chiad (Maja Simonsen) and Bain (Ragga Ragnars), Whitecloak Dain Bornhald (Jay Duffy), and Mistress of Novices for the Aes Sedai Sheriam (Rima te Wiata). All of these are recurring roles as well as characters who appear prominently through The Wheel of Time books, so it’s exciting to find out who will be playing them.
